About the role
The Department 476 Waterfront Engineering at Quonset Point seeks highly motivated Principal level candidates to lead technical activities for second shift structural, mechanical, piping, and electrical construction for VIRGINIA and COLUMBIA Class submarines.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for construction activities
- Resolve design issues and troubleshoot construction problems
- Support manufacturing operations with technical support
- Verify and certify as-built dimensions and configurations
- Implement process improvements
- Provide deck plate engineering through Change Requests, Change Notices, UNSATs, and Engineering Reports
- Gain exposure to various aspects of submarine deck plate construction for continuous growth and advancement
- Engage in hands-on engineering activities
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, or Aerospace Engineering
- At least 15 years of post-graduate engineering experience
- Experience with submarine mechanical, structural, electrical, and piping systems
- Experience with mechanical/structural/piping design, evaluation, and construction
- Experience with trouble-shooting and technical problem solving
- Experience with task or project management
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense secret clearance
Qualifications
- Preferred: Experience with providing deck-plate engineering construction support
- Preferred: Knowledge of VIRGINIA/COLUMBIA Class ship design and arrangement
- Preferred: Experience with providing Engineering Reports or Change Notices
- Preferred: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Preferred: Knowledge of NX and Teamcenter
Skills
- Develop and maintain relationships with Operations personnel
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Knowledge of VIRGINIA/COLUMBIA Class ship design and arrangement
