Principal Engineer, Digital Banking Platform

For our client, we are seeking a Principal Engineer, Digital Banking Platform to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space. This role will help shape the technical direction of a modern digital banking platform, with a strong focus on scalable architecture, security, and engineering excellence. You will evaluate legacy environments, identify modernization opportunities, and guide the evolution of core platform capabilities across distributed teams. In close partnership with engineering and operations stakeholders, you will drive performance, observability, and DevSecOps practices that support long-term business value. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $150,000 – $180,000 annually Responsibilities Define the technical vision and engineering roadmap for online banking platforms Analyze legacy systems to identify risks and modernization opportunities Design scalable and secure platforms using modern engineering practices Enhance platform performance and operational excellence through advanced observability and DevSecOps Provide technical leadership and mentorship across distributed teams Qualifications 12+ years of software engineering experience, focusing on large-scale enterprise platforms 10+ years of experience with distributed systems, APIs, and cloud-native architectures 8+ years leading technical strategy and architecture across multiple teams Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience Experience in digital banking or financial technology is a plus Benefits Collaborative work environment with cross-functional teams Opportunities for professional development and mentorship Focus on modern engineering practices and innovative technologies Engagement in high-impact projects that drive business value Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
