Principal Engineer, Developer Experience

For our client, a leader in the Finance & Insurance space, we are seeking a Principal Engineer to drive the Developer Experience program and directly influence customer engagement, conversion performance, and revenue growth within a regulated financial services environment.

About the role

You will lead the technical strategy and execution of the company’s Developer Experience program, collaborating with analytics, product, creative, and commercial teams to turn market insights into scalable campaigns, testing strategies, and performance improvements.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical strategy and execution of the company’s Developer Experience program
• Gather and leverage feedback from developers to enhance productivity and reduce friction
• Engage in technical discussions and contribute to platform improvements
• Evaluate and govern tools and frameworks for security and scalability before enterprise-wide adoption
• Champion the adoption of AI-assisted software development to enhance quality and effectiveness
• Collaborate with various teams to create a seamless development experience across the organization
• Drive innovation through experimentation and continuous technological assessment
• Establish metrics focused on developer productivity and engineering satisfaction

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience including leadership roles in engineering or developer experience functions
• Hands-on experience with developer platforms, automation tools, and cloud-native technologies
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and modern engineering practices
• Experience with AI-assisted engineering tools like GitHub Copilot and large language models
• Proven ability to influence technical leaders and drive technology adoption across the enterprise
• Effective communication skills to translate technical details into business impact

Pay

$199,000 – $274,000 annually
