Principal Engineer, Cloud Systems
Description and Requirements
The role involves working vertically and horizontally across the Infrastructure and Operations portfolio supporting private/public cloud systems, operating systems, middleware, storage, database platforms, and other key infrastructure products. The individual will assist department leadership by providing informal coaching and direction to the I&O Engineering team, serve as a subject matter expert for advanced analysis and resolution of complex issues, develop repeatable automation to deliver capabilities more efficiently, devise solutions to problems impacting mission-critical systems, and implement automation to prevent reoccurrence.
- Supports and implements private cloud Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure (HCI) technologies.
- Plays a senior role within a Center of Excellence for cloud usage and cloud development standards.
- Maintains an accurate picture of existing server, storage, networking, software and hardware and virtual environments to support scaling against various project requirements.
- Serves as a technical leader within Infrastructure & Operations as well as with Development teams in areas of Cloud technology and automation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Technical degree from an accredited institution or a high school diploma or a GED from an accredited institution with equivalent work experience.
- Experience in designing, building, and managing Linux/Unix-based and Windows systems.
- Extensive cloud experience within Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), etc.
- I&O Engineering work experience including oversight of public and private cloud technologies.
- Proven and demonstratable experience with automation scripting tools including BASH, Python and/or PowerShell.
- Extensive Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience with automation and open-source tools.
- Proven work experience in identifying repeatable processes and partnering with teams to push innovation and automation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Computer Science or Technical field.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
- GCP/Nutanix Certification.
- Experience in a Cloud Center of Excellence and driving business innovation.
- Experience implementing cloud services with an Infrastructure as code methodology using cloud formation, Ansible, or Terraform.
- Experience supporting Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD integration.
- Experience supporting and integrating database services both on-premise, and leveraging cloud hosted technologies.
- Expert understanding of cloud security best practices and implementing a least privileged model of access in AWS.
- Deep troubleshooting skills that involve analysis of logs, network traces, configuration data, automation tools to resolve issues until end-to-end systems are functioning.
- Experience with Kubernetes, deploying, and supporting containerized applications.
- Experience working with development teams as a cloud engineering subject matter expert to create cloud-native applications.
- Experience with system health monitoring and optimizing performance following Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles with leading industry tools.
- Experience working in regulated and/or high-security environments and industries (PCI, HIPAA, HITRUST, etc.).
Hiring Range
The hiring range for this position is as follows: - Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $134,600 - $194,480 - All Other Locations (within approved locations): $119,600 - $177,905
