Principal Engineer, Big Data Platform

For our client, we are seeking a Principal Engineer, Big Data Platform to join the team of a leader in the Consumer Technology space. This role will shape the technical direction for large-scale data infrastructure that supports big data and AI applications. You will partner closely with internal teams to build frameworks that handle petabyte-scale datasets with performance, reliability, and scalability in mind. This position will also influence long-term architecture and technical vision for the company's data platform while helping drive efficient data processing and storage across the organization. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $242,634 – $499,541 annually Responsibilities Lead strategy and technical direction for data infrastructure for big data and AI applications Build and scale data infrastructure frameworks for petabyte-scale datasets Collaborate with internal customers on impactful big data use cases Provide company-wide thought leadership on efficient data processing and storage Contribute to the team's technical vision and long-term roadmap Qualifications 12+ years of industry experience with a strong track record of technical excellence 8+ years of experience building scalable Kubernetes or big data platforms Deep knowledge of big data/ML technologies, including Flink, Spark, Presto, Kubernetes, Ray, and PyTorch/TensorFlow Proficient in programming languages such as Java, Go, Scala, and Python Experience with Kubernetes and AWS technologies Exceptional collaboration skills and ability to navigate ambiguity Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience Benefits In-office collaboration is required 1-2 times per quarter for key moments Remote work flexibility based on the nature of the work Inclusive and equitable workplace culture Eligibility for equity in addition to competitive salary Innovative company culture focused on creativity and community Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
