Principal Engineer API Platform

Responsibilities

• Define and enforce enterprise API design standards for REST, GraphQL, and event-driven interfaces
• Architect and deliver multi-environment API systems targeting public and private clouds
• Lead the integration of AI capabilities into the developer platform, enhancing user experience
• Collaborate with security architecture teams to develop compliant API frameworks
• Participate in and improve architecture reviews, design documentation, and pull requests
• Measure platform health and adoption using data-driven methods, communicating the value to stakeholders
• Mentor engineers, focusing on skill development and technical growth

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, particularly in designing and delivering APIs at enterprise scale
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in API security practices including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and threat modeling
• 5+ years of involvement with API gateway products and API management platforms such as Apigee or Azure APIM
• 5+ years of backend development experience in Java/Spring Boot and/or Node.js
• Experience with public cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure), focusing on secure API delivery
• 3+ years of influencing technical direction in a principal or architect role

Pay

$144,200 – $288,400 annually
