Principal Engineer, Agentic AI Development

About the role

Apex Systems is seeking a Senior/Principal Agentic AI Engineer to design, build, and deploy enterprise AI solutions. This person will be a hands-on developer responsible for creating AI agents, custom integrations, orchestration frameworks, and scalable AI applications while helping drive AI adoption and best practices across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy AI agents and agentic applications
• Develop solutions using Microsoft Copilot Studio and Azure AI Foundry
• Create custom integrations, APIs, connectors, and automation workflows
• Build RAG solutions, vector search implementations, and AI orchestration frameworks
• Develop AI evaluation, testing, monitoring, and governance processes
• Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to deliver AI-driven solutions

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience
• Experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio
• Experience with Azure AI Foundry
• Experience with Azure OpenAI Service
• Experience with Azure AI Search
• Experience with Azure AI Agent Service
• Experience building Prompt Flows
• MCP (Model Context Protocol) development experience
• Strong Python development experience
• Strong JavaScript and/or TypeScript experience
• Experience with LLM orchestration and AI agent development
• Experience building RAG solutions

• Amazon Bedrock
• AWS experience
• Azure cloud architecture experience
