Principal Energy Consultant -- Clean Energy
This is a remote/virtual position. Candidate can be based anywhere within the United States.
About the role
We have a unique and exciting opportunity to join our Consulting group in the role of a Project Manager. This position will require you to lead and execute work associated with the development, financing, and execution of power generation projects. This position supports the continued growth of the Sargent & Lundy Consulting group, which regularly provides technical and financial due diligence, asset transaction support, project development services, independent engineering services, owner’s engineering services, and long-term planning support.
This position will require a great deal of face-to-face interaction with power project developers, utilities, investors, legal advisors, and financial institutions during the execution of consulting services work for the firm.
Responsibilities
- Develop consulting project execution plan to meet client’s needs
- Review deliverables such as reports and studies
- Lead project team by providing clear instruction including technical approaches
- Manage hours and work performed to budget and scope
- Develop staff expertise through training and mentoring
- Prepare proposals for consulting project opportunities
- Support multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring a high quality standard is met
- Travel occasionally to visit project locations and client offices
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering (other Engineering disciplines or Finance/Economics may be considered)
- 15 or more years of experience in the power industry, including owner’s engineer, independent engineer, and/or design engineer experience for development and execution of power generation
- Experience managing teams of engineers
- Technical knowledge in multiple power generation technologies – solar, battery energy storage, wind, and thermal
- Experience performing feasibility studies for power projects
Qualifications
- Experience in long-term power supply and transmission planning projects (a plus)
- Experience in project finance or financial modeling of power projects (a plus)
- Experience with project contracts such as power purchase agreements, asset transfer agreements, and EPC contracts (a plus)
- Prior experience in a consulting role (a plus)

Pay
Compensation Range: $145,310 - $222,001
Individuals may also be eligible to participate in our yearly discretionary bonus.
