For our client, a leader in the Retail & Consumer Goods space, we are seeking a Principal Embedded Software Engineer to join their team. This role will lead technical initiatives focused on scalable systems, platform reliability, and meaningful business transformation. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions.

About the role

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the embedded software architecture for robotic platforms
  • Lead technical design reviews and architecture discussions
  • Mentor embedded software engineers and provide technical guidance
  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded software running on robotic platforms
  • Support integration of Lidar systems, cameras, IMUs, and other hardware components
  • Design systems with fault tolerance and graceful degradation capabilities
  • Define testing strategies for embedded systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or related field
  • 8+ years of embedded software development experience
  • 3+ years of technical leadership or lead engineering experience
  • Experience developing software for mobile robotic systems
  • Strong proficiency in C and C++
  • Experience with embedded Linux systems
  • Strong understanding of real-time systems and concurrency

Pay

$120,000 – $160,000 annually
