About the role
Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer for the Avionics Design Group within the Launch Vehicles business unit at the Chandler, AZ facility. As a member of the circuit design team, you’ll be responsible for circuit design and development for programs, performing detailed board-level digital and mixed signal circuit design, analysis, and simulation to verify as-designed circuit response meets requirement criteria.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop digital and mixed signal circuits for stringent environments, including radiation effects.
- Select component parts to meet design requirements.
- Perform circuit analysis and simulation (PSpice, LTSpice) to verify compliance with requirements.
- Evaluate completed designs with senior engineers and other technical groups; modify designs as necessary.
- Write design and test documentation, including analyses, specifications, user manuals, and test procedures.
- Support qualification testing by developing test procedures and reports.
- Oversee component supplier design, analysis, manufacture, and test (with senior engineer oversight).
- Troubleshoot hardware and debug software in a lab environment using tools such as oscilloscopes, signal/function generators, and logic analyzers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 5 years of digital/mixed signal design experience, or Master’s degree with 3 years of experience.
- Ability to understand and adhere to department design standards.
- Experience working in an Agile project format, including Jira and Git environments.
- Proficiency with schematic capture and board layout.
- Familiarity with microprocessor and/or FPGA circuit design.
- Experience with circuit simulation (PSpice, LTSpice).
- Physical testing experience, including lab measurements (oscilloscope, signal/function generator, logic analyzer).
- Experience generating design documents, specifications, user’s manuals, test plans, and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Cadence, Matlab, VHDL, or Python.
- Experience with circuit design for military or space environments.
- Active U.S. Government Security Clearance.
Pay
Primary salary range: $98,400.00 – $147,600.00. The final offer considers scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Eligible employees may receive overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and company results. Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
