About the Role

The Advanced Effector Guidance Systems (AEGS) Department within Raytheon Hardware Engineering provides Electrical Systems Engineering to develop Electronic Systems solutions for products across the Raytheon portfolio. Our core electrical engineering responsibilities include architecture, requirements, integration, and test. Core technologies include RF/RADAR, Navigation/IMU/GPS, Data Link/Communication, Digital, and Power.

The AEGS Department is searching for an Electrical Subsystems Digital Principal Engineer with experience leading or supporting a multi-disciplinary system design and integration team. The role will lead or support digital design efforts, digital subsystem architecture design, or initial integration efforts of development guidance systems. This role may include Control Account Management (CAM) responsibilities; Earned Value (EV) certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or support digital design efforts for development guidance systems.
  • Enhance electrical engineering skills by working with digital and/or analog hardware testing and debugging complex circuit card assemblies or electro-mechanical systems (prior hands-on troubleshooting experience preferred).
  • Support component-level design and test reviews.
  • Mentor and be mentored as part of Raytheon’s strong mentoring culture.
  • Collaborate with functional and program management, customers, and suppliers.
  • Travel approximately 25%.
  • Guide teams through hardware systems lifecycle phases: designs and analysis, architecting new electronic systems, developing and documenting subsystem requirements and test plans, peer reviews as a subject matter expert, presentations to peers/management/government customers, and root-cause failure investigations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience (unless prohibited by local laws/regulations).
  • Eight years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Analog, digital, and power electronics design, integration, and production support.
    • Decomposition of high-level requirements into actionable design electronics and subsystem architecture.
    • Subsystem architectural design.
    • Digital sub-systems, systems engineering, requirement development, requirement validation, Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) Design, Digital Test Integration, and/or Digital Supplier Management on an effector-based product.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance (required prior to start date).
  • U.S. citizenship (required for security clearance eligibility).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in digital design tools for CCA Schematic Capture, Interconnect Capture, and Harness Design.
  • Prior experience as a technical leader on a complex subsystem during the Engineering, Manufacturing, and Development (EMD) Phase.
  • Advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or related fields.
  • Systems engineering thought process with an analytical skills background.
  • Highly self-motivated individual capable of multidisciplinary work.
  • Background in designing and troubleshooting antennas, analog RF circuit cards, digital circuit cards, and configurable logic.
  • Experience in project leadership, systems engineering, and architecture with a desire to grow to a higher level.
  • Ability to network and influence outside the AEGS Department with design/production support organizations, program leadership, other engineering disciplines, and manufacturing organizations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with peers, suppliers, management, and customers in a production environment.
  • Proven experience balancing engineering process discipline and innovation for rapid development and program success.
  • Experience with missiles or similar systems.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Knowledge of mixed-signal electronics.
  • Practical experience in all phases of the product development lifecycle.
  • Experience developing proposals.
  • Experience leading large, complex trade studies.
  • Experience developing and materializing conceptual designs and integrating them into a system of systems.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the business unit and whether the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $107,500 – $204,500 USD. The range is a good-faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
