About the role
This role plays a vital part in enabling secure, resilient, and scalable software delivery pipelines that directly support U.S. military aviation and national defense initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Use a wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the software field to develop, integrate, and test software products.
- Work independently at times on projects, at other times in a collaborative team environment with other software engineers, as well as other program development and deployment teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, security, and IT to ensure secure DevSecOps pipelines for safety-critical, air-gapped environments.
- Lead and mentor a team in implementing containerization and Kubernetes (on-prem, disconnected operations).
- Manage build environments using tools like make, CMake, and Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform, Helm).
- Ensure infrastructure is managed effectively through Linux (RHEL, Yocto, Buildroot) and version control systems like Bitbucket and GitLab.
- Communicate and document complex technical designs to ensure clear understanding among team members.
- Participate in continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes, ensuring all artifacts are certified.
- Implement secure networking and zero-trust architectures, particularly relevant for embedded and real-time systems enablement.
- Work onsite 100% of the time.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in STEM discipline
- 8+ years of DevSecOps experience
- Python & YAML experience
- Experience with secure DevSecOps pipelines for safety-critical, air-gapped environments
- Containerization & Kubernetes (on-prem, disconnected operations)
- Build environment Tools (make & CMake)
- Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform, Helm)
- Linux (RHEL, Yocto, Buildroot)
- Bitbucket & Gitlab experience
- Cross-functional leadership across engineering, security, and IT teams
Qualifications
- Active Secret Clearance
Skills
- Atlassian Tools (Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket, etc.)
- Ansible
- CI/CD integration with certification artifacts
- Secure networking & zero-trust architectures
- Embedded & Real-Time Systems enablement (RTOS, flight software)
- Familiarity with DO-178 A-C
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
- Ability to travel 10%
