Principal Design Systems Designer

About the role

This role will drive marketing initiatives focused on growth, customer acquisition, brand performance, and measurable demand creation. You will collaborate with analytics, product, creative, and commercial teams to turn market insights into scalable campaigns, testing strategies, and performance improvements. The position offers the opportunity to directly influence customer engagement, conversion performance, and revenue growth within a regulated financial services environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available. Compensation: $165,000 – $292,000 annually.

Responsibilities

• Audit current product UI for consistency and opportunities for improvement
• Define the design system's information architecture, including component hierarchy and documentation
• Collaborate with teams to create a prioritized plan for the design system's development
• Establish a scalable token strategy that synchronizes design and code implementations
• Translate the design system into reusable components in collaboration with Front-End engineers
• Manage the entire component lifecycle, including versioning and release documentation
• Develop an easy contribution process for design, engineering, and product teams to enhance the system

Qualifications

• Experience owning a design system from inception to adoption at a product-focused company
• Proficient in design-to-code integration, including managing token pipelines and component APIs
• Demonstrated ability to drive system adoption using builder-friendly processes rather than heavy governance
• In-depth knowledge of modern front-end design concepts and collaboration with engineering teams
• Proven experience in setting and maintaining accessibility standards throughout component design
• Familiarity with AI-assisted design and development workflows, with hands-on experience using tools like Cursor or Claude Code
• Strong leadership and communication skills, capable of guiding diverse teams and making evidence-based decisions
