Overview
We are seeking a Principal DeltaV Automation Engineer to help expand and shape our DeltaV capabilities across North America. We are looking for this person to join our team in one of our 8 office locations (Maumee, OH; Cincinnati, OH; Indianapolis, IN; Peachtree City, GA; Overland Park, KS; Edina, MN; Raleigh, NC; Westminster, CO). We may consider a fully remote option for the right candidate. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced DeltaV Subject Matter Expert to have a significant impact on the future of our automation business.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Serve as Matrix's lead technical authority for Emerson DeltaV systems
- Establish and maintain DeltaV engineering standards, design philosophies, and best practices
- Architect complex DeltaV solutions for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and regulated manufacturing facilities
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical guidance on challenging projects
- Evaluate and implement emerging DeltaV technologies, tools, and capabilities
Project Delivery
- Lead the design and implementation of: Greenfield DeltaV systems, Brownfield modernization initiatives, Legacy DCS migrations, Batch automation systems, Multi-site standardization programs, Digital transformation projects
- Support project execution throughout the full system lifecycle, including: Functional specifications, Detailed design, Configuration, FAT, SAT, Commissioning, Startup support
Practice Development
- Develop and maintain reusable engineering libraries, templates, standards, and validation packages
- Identify opportunities to expand DeltaV services and capabilities
- Collaborate with leadership on strategic growth initiatives
- Support proposal development, project estimating, and client presentations
Talent Development
- Mentor, coach, and develop the next generation of DeltaV engineers
- Deliver technical training and knowledge-sharing initiatives
- Support recruiting efforts through technical interviews and candidate evaluations
- Help establish development pathways for automation engineers pursuing DeltaV specialization
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of hands-on Emerson DeltaV experience
- Demonstrated expertise designing, implementing, and commissioning DeltaV systems
- Prominent ability to architect complex DeltaV solutions from concept through startup
- Experience serving as a technical lead, SME, or principal engineer
- Strong knowledge of: DeltaV Control Studio, DeltaV Operate, DeltaV Diagnostics, DeltaV Continuous Historian, DeltaV Live, DeltaV Batch, DeltaV System Architecture, ISA-88 Batch Methodology
- PREFERRED: Experience with: DeltaV PK Controller, DeltaV SISSyncade, Virtualized DeltaV Environments, Electronic Marshalling / CHARMSM-Series and S-Series Controllers, Ethernet I/O Card (EIOC)
- EXPERTISE: in GMP-regulated industries, experience supporting validation and CSV activities
- PREFERRED: Previous experience with Emerson Automation Solutions, an Emerson Impact Partner, or a DeltaV-focused systems integrator
