About the role
This is a high-impact role for someone who wants to apply advanced modeling and optimization to real-world power market problems, not build models in isolation.
Responsibilities
- Leading the design and evolution of large-scale power market models
- Developing optimization, forecasting, and simulation methodologies for nodal electricity markets
- Translating customer and market needs into scalable product capabilities
- Partnering closely with software engineers to ensure models are production-ready
- Guiding technical direction across multiple product initiatives
- Mentoring other data scientists and market modelers
- Staying current with evolving electricity markets, optimization methods, and forecasting approaches
Requirements
- Experience developing or applying models for nodal wholesale electricity markets
- Strong understanding of market-clearing algorithms, SCUC, SCED, transmission constraints, and economic dispatch
- Experience with MILP and large-scale optimization
- Strong Python and SQL skills
- Comfort working across product, engineering, commercial, and customer-facing teams
- Ability to translate complex market concepts into practical software products
Qualifications
- Senior data scientist, market modeler, optimization expert, or quantitative power markets professional with deep experience in wholesale electricity markets
Skills
- Experience with a Market Management System
- AC/DC power flow modeling
- ISO/RTO market software
- Power trading platforms
- Commercial market simulation tools
