Principal Data Engineer

The Role Own the architecture and delivery for modern data platforms end-to-end Shape client data strategy and design scalable solutions Lead implementation efforts from design through production Partner directly with client stakeholders, from requirements through executive updates Mentor internal team members and ensure high-quality delivery Advise clients on architecture, scalability, and platform evolution, connecting technical decisions to business outcomes What You'll Need 10+ years in software and 7+ years in data engineering with technical leadership and architectural ownership Deep expertise in Databricks and modern lakehouse architecture (Delta Lake, Spark-based processing) Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python for large-scale data pipelines Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, data services, and infrastructure design Strong data modeling, ETL/ELT patterns, and distributed data processing skills Experience with orchestration tools, transformation frameworks, CI/CD, DevOps, and infrastructure-as-code What's On Offer Robust Learning & Development program with unlimited access to books, courses, and expert training Annual financial stipend and dedicated time for learning and development Flexible PTO and 12 weeks of new parent leave for eligible employees Support for co-working and a distributed team culture across the US, Canada, and UK Apply via Haystack today!
