Principal Data Center Construction Manager
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is seeking a Principal Data Center Construction Manager to support field execution for hyperscale AI data center construction in the Greater Abilene Area. This role is responsible for supporting safe, predictable, and high-quality construction delivery across assigned buildings, systems, areas, or discipline scopes. The position is based in Shackelford, Texas, approximately 20 miles from the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Abilene AI Data Center. It does not offer remote flexibility. Relocation packages are available for eligible candidates.
About the role
The Principal Data Center Construction Manager is a member of the OCI Data Center construction team who supports daily construction activities by coordinating contractors, tracking field progress, helping resolve execution issues, reinforcing safety and quality expectations, and supporting turnover readiness for commissioning and startup. This is a highly field-based role requiring strong site presence, direct contractor engagement, and hands-on execution support.
Responsibilities
- Support daily construction execution for assigned buildings, systems, areas, or trade scopes.
- Work closely with general contractors, subcontractors, foremen, superintendents, and trade partners.
- Monitor field progress, manpower, productivity, sequencing, and workface readiness.
- Ensure construction activities align with approved schedules, milestones, logistics plans, and turnover priorities.
- Identify and help resolve field issues, trade conflicts, congestion risks, and execution constraints.
- Reinforce onsite safety expectations through visible field presence.
- Support installation quality verification and help reduce rework.
- Partner with QA/QC, commissioning, controls, logistics, safety, and operations teams.
- Track punch-list items, turnover readiness, and startup support requirements.
- Provide accurate daily field reports, progress updates, issue logs, and milestone updates.
- Support recovery plans when schedule, quality, productivity, or coordination issues arise.
- Support Construction Managers in promoting consistent field execution practices.
- Maintain continuous site awareness through regular field walks and direct contractor engagement.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience supporting construction execution on large-scale, complex projects.
- Experience in data centers, mission-critical facilities, industrial construction, infrastructure, semiconductor, power, or other technical construction environments.
- Knowledge of construction sequencing, field coordination, manpower tracking, productivity monitoring, and milestone execution.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, look-ahead plans, and turnover documentation.
- Proven ability to identify field risks, resolve construction issues, and escalate effectively.
- Strong understanding of safety expectations, quality standards, punch-list management, and turnover readiness.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear, concise updates.
- Ability to work primarily onsite with approximately 85–95% field/site engagement.
- Strong ownership mindset, urgency, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced construction environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting hyperscale data center construction projects.
- Experience in an owner’s representative, construction management, EPC, or general contractor environment.
- Familiarity with data center systems, including electrical, mechanical, controls, civil, structural, architectural, network, or commissioning-related scopes.
- Experience supporting or coaching Construction Managers, field engineers, coordinators, or discipline-specific construction teams.
- Experience supporting fast-track construction, phased turnover, commissioning-driven delivery, or recovery execution.
- Familiarity with construction reporting tools, scheduling platforms, document control systems, and issue tracking processes such as Primavera P6, Oracle Primavera Cloud, MS Project, Power BI, Tableau, Smartsheet, or similar tools.
- Strong ability to drive contractor accountability while maintaining productive working relationships.
- Ability to contribute through field presence, direct communication, disciplined follow-up, and practical problem solving.
- Certifications such as PMP, PgMP, PMI-SP, CCP, PSP, or Lean Six Sigma.
Pay
Hiring range in USD from: $102,300 - $209,500 per year. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
