About the role

We work to make the world of business and taxes come alive for creative individuals and organizations. As a Principal, you will manage client relationships, lead a team, prepare tax documents, and provide strategic advice.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain strong client relationships, ensuring the highest levels of client satisfaction and quality control standards
  • Lead and mentor the tax team, including a senior tax manager and 3 tax accountants
  • Prepare personal and corporate tax planning documents and update clients' payroll settings
  • Prepare and review business and individual tax returns
  • Develop and monitor KPIs to track team performance and ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies
  • Respond to client tax notices and create tax projections, scenario modeling, and other analyses
  • Research federal and state income, payroll, and sales tax issues
  • Make recommendations to clients about organizational structure decisions and assist with entity formation
  • Perform analysis and make recommendations about compensation structures, retirement plan structures, or employee incentive structures
  • Aid clients with government programs/grant opportunities

Requirements

  • You must be a CPA with 8+ years of experience, primarily in public accounting
  • You should be comfortable in client-facing relationships and enjoy learning about clients' businesses
  • You must be detail-oriented and avoid careless mistakes
  • You should be an excellent communicator and proactive in finding new ways to improve processes
  • You must have experience with at least one cloud-based accounting platform and one major tax prep software package

  • Passion for staying updated on accounting rules, regulations, and guidelines
  • Discretion in handling clients' sensitive information
