Principal CAD Designer
Job Description
Use CAD software to prepare detailed engineering drawings, including bridge plans, elevations, sections, and details, based on preliminary sketches or general engineering information, following established standards and procedures.
Collaborate closely with other Designer/Drafters and Engineers to ensure coordinated and accurate designs.
Apply standard drafting and design principles to complete assignments efficiently and effectively.
Compile data and perform dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings.
Make necessary changes, additions, and revisions to drawings, following a structured quality control process that includes checking, backchecking, correcting, and verifying.
Manage the assembly and delivery of completed drawing sets within the bridge discipline.
Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s degree or equivalent technical certificate from an accredited designer/drafter program.
- Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience in bridge structural drafting and design.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Bentley tools, including MicroStation, ProjectWise, and OpenBridge Modeler.
- Standards Knowledge: Ability to interpret and ensure conformance to applicable standards such as AASHTO, state DOT CAD standards, and company policies and procedures, including the ability to set up workspace environments.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy, quality, and adherence to established drafting conventions.

Salary Range: $42.50 - $74.38
