Principal Biostatistician Team Lead
About the role
As a Principal Biostatistician Team Lead at Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus, you will lead a team of biostatisticians, data managers, data entry personnel, and programmers. Your responsibilities include providing statistical expertise in the design and conduct of clinical trials and research studies, overseeing statistical programming, database management, and data analysis activities, and serving as the primary point of contact for assigned projects.
Responsibilities
- Oversee research personnel within assigned area, ensuring orientation and training in standard operating procedures (SOPs) in compliance with sponsoring organization and external regulatory agencies as well as performance management, career development, corrective action and terminations.
- Collaborate with department administrative leader to lead recruitment efforts such as initial screening of biostatistical candidates, including development and assessment of technical screening tools, and make final recommendations to leadership on candidate selection.
- Provide statistical expertise to other biostatisticians, including the appropriate methods for study design, sample size estimation, development of instruments for data collection, randomization procedures, and appropriate statistical analysis, model building techniques, graphical techniques, and appropriate references for data.
- Maintain professional relationships, including frequent and open effective communication with internal and external constituents.
- Serve as a resource for departmental staff for professional development.
- Aid in organizing department-wide opportunities for professional growth, including seminars, training courses, and other resources.
- Ensure equitable distribution of workload and allocation of resources.
- Determine study resources/budgets for statistical activities, ensure appropriate resources to meet contractual obligations.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Biostatistics, Statistics or a related field.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, management/leadership abilities.
- Demonstrated excellence in statistical methodology.
- Expertise in standard statistical software.
- Understanding of database packages for optimal data extraction and utilization.
- Demonstrated written and verbal skills.
Qualifications
- Fifteen years as a statistician in medical research (clinical trials preferred).
Skills
- Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
- Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.
- Ability to travel throughout the hospital system.
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.

Pay
Pay Range Minimum Annual Salary: $101,900.00 Maximum Annual Salary: $155,390.00
The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education.
