For our client, a leader in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech space, we are seeking a Principal Architect to join their team. This role will lead technical work focused on secure, reliable systems and risk-aware execution in a life sciences environment.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
About the role
You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth.
Responsibilities
- Own architectural direction for CMM's core platform domains and guide engineering standards
- Lead the development and approval of architectural standards through the CMM Architecture Review Board
- Create reference architectures and reusable patterns for engineering teams
- Identify architectural debt and propose platform investments to mitigate risks
- Serve as an architectural partner on high-profile projects, shaping decisions from the start
- Surface gaps in platform capabilities early, translating them into actionable proposals
- Mentor engineers and architects to build organization-wide architectural capability
Qualifications
- 13+ years of software and platform engineering experience, including 8+ years in senior individual contributor roles
- Demonstrated ability in setting architectural direction for complex, cloud-native platforms
- Deep expertise in at least two platform domains such as cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, security architecture, etc.
- Ability to engage credibly across the entire platform stack, from infrastructure to application architecture
- Proven influence over technical decisions without direct authority, demonstrating improved outcomes
Pay
$162,800 – $271,300 annually
