About the Role
As a Principal Air Quality Consultant, you will provide technical and business leadership while supporting clients across a range of sectors, including industrial, manufacturing, energy, commercial, government, financial, and legal markets. You will be expected to maintain and grow client relationships, manage complex regulatory projects, and contribute to the expansion of the environmental consulting practice through business development activities. Successful candidates typically demonstrate the ability to generate and sustain a level of business that supports ongoing team growth and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Manage environmental consulting projects from proposal through completion.
- Interpret and apply local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
- Prepare and review regulatory applicability assessments and technical reports.
- Oversee the development of air permit applications and related documentation.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
- Provide expert technical guidance to clients and project teams.
- Support legal and administrative proceedings through technical testimony when required.
- Participate in professional, scientific, and industry organizations.
- Conduct occasional site visits and field assessments.
- Mentor and develop junior and mid-level consulting professionals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 15 years of air quality and environmental consulting experience.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
- Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying regulatory requirements to complex situations.
- Understanding of air quality compliance, emissions evaluation, and regulatory guidance.
- Proven project management and client relationship management skills.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing competing priorities.
- Demonstrated success in business development, sales, or client growth activities.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
