Principal AI Platform Engineer

For our client, we are seeking a Principal AI Platform Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space. This role will shape the technical direction for enterprise AI capabilities, with a strong focus on Generative AI solutions that are secure, scalable, and well-governed. You will partner closely with architecture, engineering, and business stakeholders to design and optimize systems that connect AI models with internal applications and workflows. The position also calls for influencing standards, reviewing solutions, and mentoring engineers across the organization. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $139,700 – $232,900 annually Responsibilities Design and develop enterprise-scale Generative AI solutions Lead architecture and optimization of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions Review and approve AI architectures, including multi-step LLM workflows Develop APIs and frameworks connecting AI models to internal systems Establish prompt engineering standards and testing frameworks Drive model testing and performance analysis using enterprise frameworks Mentor engineers on software engineering best practices and AI architecture Qualifications 9+ years of systems analysis/application development experience, or 7+ years with a bachelor's degree; 11+ years in lieu of a degree Expert proficiency in at least one programming language and advanced proficiency in another Strong foundation in software engineering principles, data structures, and algorithms Hands-on experience with Java, Python, C#, or similar languages in production applications Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs and microservices Advanced knowledge of Generative AI, LLMs, and AI application development Proven ability to influence technical direction and architectural decisions across teams Benefits Promotes a culture of belonging and inclusivity Opportunities for professional development and mentorship Engagement in enterprise architecture forums and leadership committees Access to advanced AI technologies and platforms Work within a secure and governed technology ecosystem Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
