Technical Vision
The Principal AI/ML Engineer leads the technical vision for advanced AI and machine learning solutions within a defense program, focusing on custom computer vision, perception, and sensor fusion. The role drives architecture, MLOps, and model development while mentoring staff and influencing senior stakeholders. It serves as a bridge between engineering teams and executive leadership to ensure scalable, mission-critical AI capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Drives architecture and design for AI and ML solutions
- Mentors and influences staff in AI and ML projects
- Develops and maintains MLOps pipelines
- Develops and evaluates custom computer vision, perception, and sensor fusion models
- Works closely with executive leadership to prioritize and align AI initiatives
- Ensures alignment with overall program goals and objectives
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of relevant experience in AI/ML, computer vision, or sensor fusion
- Experience with MLOps and model deployment
- Strong understanding of computer vision, perception, and sensor fusion principles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Experience leading complex AI/ML projects
- Proven track record of successful model development and deployment
- Experience with cloud platforms and infrastructure
- Knowledge of ethical considerations in AI and ML
Skills
- Proficiency in Python, C++, or other relevant programming languages
- Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras
- Experience with computer vision libraries such as OpenCV or Dlib
- Experience with sensor fusion algorithms
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
