Principal AI/ML Engineer

Technical Vision

The Principal AI/ML Engineer leads the technical vision for advanced AI and machine learning solutions within a defense program, focusing on custom computer vision, perception, and sensor fusion. The role drives architecture, MLOps, and model development while mentoring staff and influencing senior stakeholders. It serves as a bridge between engineering teams and executive leadership to ensure scalable, mission-critical AI capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Drives architecture and design for AI and ML solutions
• Mentors and influences staff in AI and ML projects
• Develops and maintains MLOps pipelines
• Develops and evaluates custom computer vision, perception, and sensor fusion models
• Works closely with executive leadership to prioritize and align AI initiatives
• Ensures alignment with overall program goals and objectives

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• 10+ years of relevant experience in AI/ML, computer vision, or sensor fusion
• Experience with MLOps and model deployment
• Strong understanding of computer vision, perception, and sensor fusion principles
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• Experience leading complex AI/ML projects
• Proven track record of successful model development and deployment
• Experience with cloud platforms and infrastructure
• Knowledge of ethical considerations in AI and ML

Skills

• Proficiency in Python, C++, or other relevant programming languages
• Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras
• Experience with computer vision libraries such as OpenCV or Dlib
• Experience with sensor fusion algorithms
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
