About the Role
Incumbent performs all tasks necessary to obtain authorizations, verify patient funding sources for services, and schedule patients for surgery. Responds to patient inquiries and resolves identified issues. The essential functions listed are not exhaustive and may include other duties as assigned.

- Respond to patient inquiries and resolve issues
Requirements
- Previous experience with computer registration and registration scheduling systems
- General understanding of medical terminology
- Customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Ability to travel to off-site physician practices
- Minimum one (1) year recent experience (within past two years) in one of the following:
- Registering patients in a hospital or clinic
- Working as a Medical Assistant
- Working in medical billing
- General knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT codes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Demonstrated experience using MS Office
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Ability to interpret and understand various medical insurance plans and determine coverage accurately
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms
- Familiarity with Joint Commission standards
- Experience with Epic
- Demonstrated experience with authorization process and surgical scheduling
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
