Principal - Account Manager, Product & New Accounts
This role is responsible for developing strategies for product offerings, capabilities, features, and new account acquisition to drive growth of assigned credit card portfolios. It supports and nurtures brand partner relationships for growth and aligns on key product, capability, and new account initiatives to optimize portfolio health. The role collaborates with and indirectly leads cross-functional matrix teams to deliver acquisition and product strategies, ensuring the needs of both the client and organization are met. Data shared by matrix partners is used to make key portfolio decisions and align strategies with business goals, ensuring efficient resource allocation. The role resolves multi-faceted acquisition and product-related issues and removes internal roadblocks to achieve goals.
Responsibilities
- Nurture relationships to drive business growth and retention; may present to C-suite.
- Advocate for brand partners while meeting business objectives; remove internal roadblocks and initiate escalations.
- Set objectives, negotiate outcomes, and collaborate with matrix teams (Credit Management, Field, Portfolio Analytics, Marketing) to achieve goals (20%).
- Work cross-functionally with digital, capabilities, tech, operations, and fraud teams to align client strategies with overall business goals (20%).
- Initiate or partner on resolving complex problems impacting multiple teams or the organization, working through ambiguity and high-stress situations to reach strategic solutions (20%).
- Identify strategic needs of the portfolio and request acquisition plans from MCOE on an annual/quarterly basis; ensure alignment with P&L and long-term goals (15%).
- Present annual plans and gain client approval; share strategy briefs/deadlines for ongoing campaigns and review results with the brand.
- Assess and prioritize capabilities that drive strategic portfolio objectives; build compelling cases for brand partners with clearly outlined benefits (10%).
- Lead coordination and development of complex analytics to predict performance trends and guide strategic decisions (5%).
- Integrate data from multiple sources to provide a holistic view of performance and identify process optimization opportunities.
- Drive value proposition strategy informed by portfolio objectives; manage P&L impacts and gain brand alignment (5%).
- Develop comprehensive forecasts for acquisition and new account numbers, integrating cross-functional data to align with strategic goals (5%).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or equivalent relevant work experience.
- 10-13 years of experience in Account Management, Sales, Finance, Product Management, Project Management, Marketing, or credit card portfolio management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Marketing.
- Demonstrated success leading complex cross-functional initiatives in a highly matrixed environment and influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
- Experience developing or executing acquisition, product, and growth strategies for consumer credit card portfolios within a financial services organization.

Work Environment
- Normal office environment (Remote or Hybrid).
- 3 to 4 days per month required in-office if within 60 miles of a Bread Financial location.
- Periodic travel to brand partner offices and events.
- May require work outside of standard business hours.
- Ability to travel up to 10% quarterly.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $139,800.00 - $223,700.00. Actual base pay may depend on factors including work location, education, experience, and skills.

- Washington: $153,800.00 - $257,300.00
