About the Role
At Collins Aerospace, a leader in technologically advanced, intelligent solutions for the aerospace and defense industry, you’ll design and automate deployment and integration of applications onto a common platform using modern DevSecOps and automation practices. This role involves leading and mentoring engineers, troubleshooting deployment automations, and integrating diverse technologies into cohesive solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and automate deployment and integration of applications using DevSecOps and automation practices.
- Lead and mentor engineers, providing technical guidance under team leadership.
- Develop, implement, and troubleshoot DIPN deployment automations, integrating both familiar and unfamiliar technologies.
- Analyze gaps in technology solutions and develop approaches to close them, aligning with team direction and architectural guidance.
- Create, automate, and refine installation, integration, and test procedures.
- Document processes clearly and demonstrate completed work to varied audiences.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily scrum, Sprint planning, Program Increment planning, and retrospectives.
- Travel up to 10%.
What You Will Learn
- Deep hands-on experience with advanced DevSecOps, GitOps, and infrastructure automation at scale (Rancher, ArgoCD, FluxCD, Terraform, Terragrunt, HashiCorp Enterprise).
- Design and maintenance of resilient, containerized platform environments (RKE2) and desired-state system management using Ansible, Bash, or Python.
- Advanced techniques for automating system integrations using Docker, Podman, Compose-based workflows, and IaC-driven server/OS deployments.
- Work across complex Linux, virtualization, and network ecosystems (VMWare, KVM, Nginx, Vault, CoreDNS, dnsmasq, Artifactory, DNS services).
- Strategies for troubleshooting and orchestrating large, multi-technology solutions in high-compliance environments.
Requirements
- 8+ years of hands-on experience establishing and expanding DevSecOps/GitOps frameworks using Rancher, ArgoCD, and FluxCD.
- Deep technical expertise with Helm for package management and maintaining large-scale, containerized PaaS environments (e.g., RKE2).
- Proficiency in modular infrastructure automation using Terraform and Terragrunt, including state management and CI/CD pipeline integration.
- Experience deploying and managing HashiCorp Enterprise solutions in production-grade or high-compliance settings.
- Strong background in enforcing desired-state configuration and eliminating drift using Ansible, Bash, or Python.
- Ability to integrate diverse technologies, automate procedures, document clearly, and demonstrate technical work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience automating system integrations using Docker, Podman, and Compose-based workflows, with IaC tools for server/OS deployment (PXE boot, DHCP, Kickstart).
- Linux systems administration and security expertise, including virtualization (VMWare, KVM) and 3rd-party software (Nginx, Vault, CoreDNS, dnsmasq, Artifactory).
- Basic understanding of computer networking, DNS, and Linux host-based network management.
- Ability to lead and mentor up to three engineers.
- Experience contributing to Agile team ceremonies and collaborating in an Agile environment.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $107,500 – $204,500 USD. The range reflects all experience levels. RTX considers role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills when extending an offer.
