About the role
The Prime Contracts Administrator supports the company on contractual claims and contractual management.
Location
This position is based in Lake Charles, LA.
Responsibilities
- Administration and supervision of contract and commercial functions.
- Track key contract milestones, deliverables, and renewal dates to ensure timely action.
- Provide commercial and contractual advice to managers and project teams.
- Develop and implement commercial and contractual management procedures.
- Draft contractual communications to the client.
- Identify and mitigate all commercial risks.
- Perform commercial reporting and analysis of the financial position of the project.
- Prepare, review, and coordinate progress payment certificates.
- Train and develop commercial and project staff.
- Support subcontract and procurement when required.
- Work closely with legal, finance, and project teams to address contract issues and discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with all contractual agreements related to federal and state laws, particularly applicable Occupational Health & Safety Acts, Construction Safety Act regulations, and environmental requirements in coordination with the Prime Contract Manager and Legal Counsel.
- Participate in initiatives to enhance contract management processes.
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, construction management, or equivalent field of study, along with 5+ years of construction-related commercial and contractual management experience on a major civil project.
- Alternatively, a high school diploma (or equivalent) with 9+ years of construction-related commercial and contractual management experience on a major civil project.
- Experience with Design Build Contracts is preferred.
Skills
- Effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner through written and verbal communications with customers, fellow employees, vendors, etc.
- Proficient in computer programs, including Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to adapt and learn as programs and processes change.
- Ability to work as a team member and exert initiative to work independently to reach a goal.
- Ability to embrace change in the workplace while encouraging others to seek innovative approaches.
- Ability to function effectively as a team player and collaborator.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including overtime and additional or different hours (nights, weekends, holidays) as needed.
