About the role

Prime Air is seeking an experienced Drone Operations Manager to own the end-to-end operation at our drone delivery hubs. This person will act as the leader of the Prime Air commercial operations center, managing all aspects of commercial operations, including our fulfillment center (outbound/inbound), drone maintenance and spare parts, and flight operations. As the senior leader on site, you will have direct responsibility over managers and employees, partnering with customer-facing teams (customer support, marketing, PR) to provide the best ultra-fast delivery experience. You will also collaborate with technical and support functions (Training and Compliance, Product, Engineering, IT, Facilities, Finance, HR, Supply Chain) to drive a highly efficient operation and directly impact Prime Air’s S-team goal of delivering packages to customers via drone.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end operation at drone delivery hubs, including fulfillment, drone maintenance, and flight operations.
  • Act as the senior leader on site, managing direct reports and overseeing staffing lifecycle (interviewing, hiring, performance management, terminations).
  • Partner with customer-facing teams (customer support, marketing, PR) to enhance the ultra-fast delivery experience.
  • Collaborate with technical and support functions (Training and Compliance, Product, Engineering, IT, Facilities, Finance, HR, Supply Chain) to optimize operations.
  • Analyze performance metrics, implement process improvements, and apply Lean methodologies.
  • Train as a drone operator and adhere to operational standards.
  • Work in variable environments, including outdoor temperatures, refrigerated spaces, and high-noise areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of operations.
  • Direct management experience in manufacturing, production, distribution, or logistics.
  • Experience with staffing lifecycle, including hiring, performance management, and terminations.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (weekends, nights, holidays) in variable conditions (temperature, noise, outdoor/refrigerated environments).
  • Ability to travel to local sites up to 25% of the time.
  • Physical ability to carry/lift up to 50 lbs., stand/walk for shifts up to 12 hours, climb ladders, and perform frequent pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and reaching.
  • Ability to navigate changing priorities and utilize judgment in demanding situations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in the drone/aerospace industry.

Pay

Base salary range: $105,500.00 - $142,700.00 USD annually (USA, NY, Rochester). Your compensation package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs), with final compensation determined by experience, qualifications, and location.

This position may require an export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon’s ability to obtain the license. The role is also subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol testing, and federal law requires a review of an applicant’s DOT drug/alcohol violation history before hiring into a safety-sensitive position.
