Primary Therapist - Outpatient
Location: 5034 Atlantic Avenue, Mays Landing, NJ
About the Role
We are seeking a Full-Time Outpatient Primary Therapist to join our Lighthouse Outpatient team. In this role, you’ll plan, direct, and coordinate clinically approved treatment programs while empowering clients and families through evidence-based, person-centered practices. You’ll work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment where your expertise directly impacts patient recovery and long-term success.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients’ mental health, substance use, and readiness for treatment
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans and goals
- Facilitate individual, group, and family therapy sessions
- Educate clients and families on addiction, recovery, and coping strategies
- Identify behaviors and barriers that interfere with recovery
- Collaborate with families and recommend appropriate treatment options
- Refer clients to community resources, support groups, and vocational services
- Participate in outreach programs to promote addiction awareness and prevention
- Provide oversight of assigned census and support site census and budgetary goals
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling (required)
- Licensure required: LAC, LSW, LPC, or LCSW
- 1–3 years of experience in behavioral health or substance use treatment
- Strong knowledge of individual, group, and family counseling
- Experience facilitating psychoeducational groups
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse populations

Pay
$54,000 – $75,000 annually
Schedule
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 1:00pm–9:30pm, Tuesday and Friday 8:00am–4:30pm
A former patient may not be hired at the same location where they were treated until a minimum of one year has elapsed since the completion of their treatment at that location. Former patients may be considered for employment at other RCA locations within a year after treatment.
