About the Role

At Recovery Centers of America (RCA), we announced a goal in 2013: Save one million lives from the disease of addiction. We're working toward that promise with over 11 facilities offering evidence-based inpatient, outpatient, and medication-assisted treatment 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our treatment is tailored to each patient, with specialized programs for trauma, multiple recurrences, older adults, first responders, and more. We believe in the power of local treatment, where families play a huge role in the recovery process. As an Addiction Therapist, you'll facilitate family therapy sessions, as well as individual and group sessions, helping patients achieve and maintain recovery for life.

Responsibilities

• Gather biopsychosocial data, including clients' mental and physical health, addiction, or problem behavior, and assess their readiness for treatment.
• Work collaboratively with clients to identify treatment goals and develop treatment plans.
• Review and recommend treatment options with clients and their families.
• Guide and support clients in developing adaptive skills and behaviors necessary for recovery.
• Help clients identify behaviors or situations that interfere with recovery and develop targeted strategies to address them.
• Provide education to families about addiction, co-occurring disorders, and treatment-support options.
• Provide family therapy to improve communication, boundaries, and ongoing reinforcement of recovery.
• Assess other functional, behavioral, and life-skill needs that may impede recovery and make referrals to appropriate supports (e.g., job placement, educational services, intensive case management, support groups).
• Work with clients to develop a comprehensive plan for next steps in recovery, including continuing care following discharge.
• Facilitate group, individual, and family therapy sessions.
• Actively participate in multi-disciplinary case presentations and discussions.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling required, with licensure as a MHC, LMHC, LMSW, LCSW, LPC, or Psy.D./Ph.D. in Psychology.
• One to three years of experience in behavioral healthcare or substance abuse settings serving culturally diverse populations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple competing tasks.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in computer software applications such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Understanding of diverse cultures and gender-specific issues, with the ability to incorporate these needs into the organization.
• Knowledge of case management for dual-diagnosis patients.
• Maintains appropriate confidentiality at all times.
• Exhibits excellent customer relation skills with coworkers, patients, families, and referral sources.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The noise level is usually moderate.

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
• Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
