Primary Therapist
About the role
Provides high quality patient care, displaying good skills in psychiatric counseling. Functions as a member of the multidisciplinary team. Performs work at an advanced, specialized and independent level.
Responsibilities
- Provides group therapy, individual counseling, family and marriage counseling, and discharge planning.
- Conducts assigned groups and therapy sessions with patients and/or their families and documents per policy.
- Makes referral to aftercare group therapy for former patients.
- Completes all program discharge and aftercare document forms on or before discharge date.
- Maintains confidentiality of department and employee information according to established procedures with no breaches and/or errors.
- Ensures the security of the department files at the end of each work day to protect confidential information.
- Participates in team staffing on a daily basis.
- Makes team aware of pertinent information gleaned from interaction with patients and/or their families.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
- A master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field and LCSW, LMSW, LMFT, LMHC, LPC, LAPC or License Eligible.
- Licensure must be received within 90 days of employment.
- BLS certification required.
Qualifications
- Completion of a comprehensive internship in a psychiatric setting.
- Minimum qualifications: Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field and LCSW, LMSW, LMFT, LMHC, LPC, LAPC or License Eligible.
- Requires instruction only in highly complex, new or specialized methods or procedures.
- Physical requirements: 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing).
- Environmental factors: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and work tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
Skills
Must have OCD experience as well as pediatric experience. Work 2-3 evenings per week (employee to choose days). 2-3 days per week 8:30am-5pm and 2-3 days per week 10:30am-7pm. All levels of experience and education will be considered for this role.
