Primary Counselor-CBT & DBT

About the Role

Ensure that each client within the assigned caseload is sufficiently supported by the Skyland Trail program services from the client's entry into the program until discharge. Responsible for well-planned and coordinated therapeutic services within the CBT and DBT recovery program, serving clients from various tracks according to evidence-based treatment modalities to fit diagnoses.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates all aspects of services to support client goals, including recovery plan meetings, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
• Develops and revises individualized recovery plans (including day treatment schedules) for caseload with input from the recovery team.
• Conducts individual sessions at least once per week with assigned caseload; reviews treatment plans and documents progression toward recovery goals.
• Records all changes in client status as necessary.
• Oversees daily core groups and ensures coverage for the assigned recovery track.
• Leads weekly recovery team meetings and provides professional case presentations.
• Communicates recovery goals, wellness plans, expectations, and opportunities to clients.
• Participates in bi-weekly group supervision and weekly supervision with the CBT Track Assistant Director for administrative support and case consultation.
• Works with the recovery team to design wellness plans; sets and reports appropriate wellness plans to clients, families, and clinical staff.
• Completes all documentation in accordance with agency guidelines, including progress reports and concurrent reviews for UR staff.
• Conducts insurance reviews as needed and maintains contact with insurance companies per managed care organization standards.
• Maintains verbal or written contact with families at least once every two weeks and conducts family sessions at least once per month.
• Practices ethically and complies with facility policies and accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission, ORS).
• Assists and guides clients to achieve maximum independence while functioning in the least restrictive environment.
• Refers clients to appropriate internal and external services and maintains contact with other service providers.
• Conducts assigned Day Treatment groups and documents them in the electronic health record; develops written curricula for each group.
• Plans, facilitates, or co-facilitates assigned day treatment groups with assistance from the Day Services Director.
• Supervises master’s level intern(s) weekly as needed and maintains regular contact with school advisors.
• Provides transportation for clients as needed.
• Participates in continuing education programs in specialty areas.
• Completes weekly to bi-weekly symptom assessments for caseload.
• Attends CBT and DBT consultation groups as scheduled.
• Completes on-call rotation for 4 weeks out of the year, including one holiday.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., Psychology, Social Work, Counseling).
• Prior training/experience with CBT and/or DBT group and/or individual counseling.
• Prior experience in a partial hospitalization/day treatment setting for chronically mentally ill individuals.
• License preferred.
