About the role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat a broad range of acute and chronic conditions, conduct physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop patient management plans.
  • Collaborate within a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) including an RN care manager, LPN, clinical pharmacist, psychologists, and social workers to deliver coordinated, wrap-around care.
  • Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and other learners, fostering the next generation of clinicians.
  • Work in a system that provides seamless access to social work, travel assistance, housing, and pharmacy services without the hassles of pre-authorizations or multiple formularies.
  • Utilize an interoperable electronic health record (EHR) that connects seamlessly with the Department of Defense and other federal partners, enhanced with advanced technology-including AI tools-to support high-quality, efficient day-to-day patient care and enable robust population-level health analysis.

Requirements

  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
  • Committed to team-based, patient-centered care.
  • Passionate about teaching and mentoring.
  • Dedicated to serving Veterans with compassion and excellence.
  • At least one year of experience in Primary Care.

Qualifications

  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • At least one year of experience in Primary Care.

Pay

Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases, 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME).

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
