Prevention Specialist - Rural Recovery Ecosystem Initiative

Impact Life is seeking a Prevention Specialist to lead and expand substance use prevention, early intervention, overdose prevention, education, and community outreach throughout Sussex County. This is a community-facing position that will work with individuals, families, schools, healthcare providers, community organizations, and other partners to increase awareness, identify needs early, and connect people to appropriate resources and services. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Develop and implement community-based substance use prevention and early intervention activitiesProvide education related to substance use, overdose prevention, opioid use disorder, treatment, recovery, and available community resourcesConduct and support Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT)Provide overdose prevention education and support naloxone education and distributionConduct outreach throughout Sussex CountyConnect individuals and families to prevention, treatment, healthcare, recovery, and community resourcesBuild relationships with schools, healthcare providers, community organizations, first responders, and other community partnersParticipate in community events, presentations, outreach activities, and educational programsSupport community partners in strengthening their ability to identify and respond to substance use and overdose riskCoordinate with Impact Life staff to ensure individuals identified through outreach can be connected to appropriate servicesTrack prevention activities, outreach, referrals, training activities, and required program dataParticipate in quality improvement, evaluation, and grant reporting activities Requirements Bachelor's degree in prevention, public health, behavioral health, social work, human services, education, or a related fieldExperience in prevention, behavioral health, public health, substance use services, harm reduction, community outreach, education, or a related fieldPrevention certification or eligibility to obtain certificationKnowledge of substance use disorder, overdose prevention, harm reduction, and recovery-oriented servicesStrong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skillsExperience developing community partnershipsComfortable working in community settings and engaging diverse populationsAbility to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary teamAbility to travel throughout Sussex County Benefits Impact Life offers eligible employees a comprehensive benefits package, including: Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) and Roth 401(k) retirement options Paid time off 11 paid holidays annually Training and professional development opportunities Wellness resources
