Prevention Specialist

Hours per week: 29. This position is hourly, non-exempt, and does not include supervisory responsibility.

About the Role

Create, update, and deliver bullying prevention presentations in elementary assemblies and secondary classrooms. Promote the "Don't Stand By Be an Ally" program. Maintain knowledge and understanding of effective bullying prevention strategies. Physical, punctual, and reliable attendance is required.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with schools to promote and schedule bullying prevention presentations.
• Maintain records and compile data.
• Teach, update, and develop bullying prevention presentations.
• Maintain professional behavior including reliability and punctuality.
• Travel to schools; mileage reimbursement will be offered.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to use computer network systems and software applications (Windows, Google Drive, Microsoft Office).
• Ability to keep consistent and accurate documentation.
• Effective instructional and classroom management skills.
• Ability to organize multiple tasks and establish cooperative working relationships.
• Positive interaction with students, teachers, administrators, support staff, and supervisors.

• Ability to communicate effectively with schools, students, and co-workers.
• Makes decisions concerning the best way to accomplish assigned tasks while following directions and guidelines.
• Concerns for safety of self and others.

Working Environment

Work setting is mainly in schools—classrooms or large gathering areas. May experience stress from disruptive students and/or groups of students.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
• Occasionally required to use hands to handle or feel, climb or balance.
• Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
• Must be able to sit/stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift/move up to 15 lbs.
