About the Role

A Prevention Specialist provides expertise, strategic leadership, and technical consultation in substance use prevention within designated counties.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate community-based coalitions, establishing collaborative communication and strategic plans.
  • Oversee activities and events funded by prevention grants, ensuring objectives are met.
  • Manage budget preparation, monitoring, and compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with community agencies to develop, implement, and evaluate prevention programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, social services, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three years of community experience in public health and prevention program development.
  • Valid driver’s license; Certified Prevention Specialist certification preferred.
  • Effective communication, group facilitation, and resourcefulness skills.
  • Knowledge of needs assessment and measurement of outcomes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to participate in prevention training and utilize personal transportation for work.
