About the Role
The Prevention Specialist is responsible for structured dual diagnosis prevention programs, primarily those provided in the college setting. Activities include implementing and evaluating prevention programs designed to prevent or reduce substance use and mental illness.
Responsibilities
- Implement classroom-based educational interventions, including completing standardization training, conducting participant recruitment (e.g., recruiting students through sign-up sheets and classroom appearances, calling or emailing participants to remind them of appointments), and managing required classroom activities in a professional manner.
- Collect data on participants, including pretest, posttest, and follow-up intervention data.
- Score and enter collected data into prevention databases located on a Project laptop, completing data entry on a biweekly basis.
- Maintain records as required by Communicare and external funding or auditing sources.
- Attend in-service training and other assigned meetings.
- Submit a schedule for the upcoming week to the Coordinator by Friday at 3 p.m.
- Report daily activity notes to the Coordinator.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field.
- Ability to relate effectively to college-aged individuals.
- Experience in public speaking and/or teaching.
- Data-entry skills.
- Acceptable criminal background check.
