Jefferson County Sheriff's Department is seeking Pretrial Release Officers to obtain and verify information on arrestees to assist in determining whether they should be detained or released.
Responsibilities
- Assists bond sureties by reviewing the history and legitimacy of individuals/finances/properties involved in the bond process, explaining inmate situations and bond conditions, and processing bonds in order to ensure bonds are posted accurately and efficiently.
- Organizes inmate and bond information by processing and filing inmate interview and Case Completion Cards, researching bond compliance, and adding to bond forfeiture lists in order to maintain documentation.
- Manages inmate needs by interviewing and counseling inmates, responding to inmate requests, making recommendations and referrals, filing affidavits, sending court date notices, and continually researching, reviewing, and communicating inmate information in order to facilitate the pretrial release process.
- Reviews inmate’s information to determine what actions can and should be taken to get the inmate bonded out of jail by considering the charges, criminal history, behavior, risk level, etc.
- Engages in activities designed to ensure professional development, awareness of developments in the field, and knowledge of relevant practices, rules, laws, policies, and/or guidelines.
Requirements
- Experience managing projects to include prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and working without close supervision.
- Experience working with individuals on a variety of issues such as behavioral problems, mental illness disorders, addictive behaviors, etc.
- No felony convictions or misdemeanors of moral turpitude including but not limited to domestic violence or theft.
- Willingness to work in a high-security jail environment with potential exposure to communicable diseases and illnesses, mental health disorders, and aggression.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
Qualifications
Job is primarily sedentary involving sitting for long periods of time, but may involve occasional walking or standing for brief periods.
Work Environment
Work is conducted indoors in an office setting using standard office equipment (e.g., computer, phone, copier) as well as in secure facilities (i.e., jail).
