Pretrial Intake Officer - (CJS Officer I)

About the role

This position involves interviewing felony and misdemeanor defendants in the Douglas County Detention Center to establish and verify residence, family ties, employment, and past criminal history for court-set bail bonds.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing arresting documents to determine which defendants need a bond report and conducting interviews in the jail.
• Entering defendant information into the Division's computer database and NCIC/CCIC systems to compile a bond report.
• Analyzing criminal history records to prepare a risk assessment tool and submitting it to the court.
• Responding to GPS issues and violations after hours, communicating with judges, DA, and law enforcement to execute bond revocation applications.
• Installing GPS monitoring devices on defendants before release and ensuring proper documentation.
• Performing administrative tasks such as filing, updating records, and processing paperwork.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social science, or a similar related field preferred.
• One year of experience working in the criminal justice system or related experience.

Qualifications

• Criminal background check including fingerprinting required.

Skills

• Proficiency in computer databases and criminal justice systems.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to analyze and interpret criminal history records.
• Problem-solving and equipment troubleshooting skills.
