Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe and organized gym environment, adhering to all equipment safety protocols and proper spotting techniques.
- Attend all required training sessions and follow established lesson plans or those provided by Head Coaches.
- Coach actively and effectively throughout warm-ups, conditioning, and class activities—maintaining control, focus, and a positive tone.
- Motivate and engage gymnasts through structured group work, stations, and circuits while addressing individual needs and encouraging progress.
- Use positive reinforcement to support gymnasts’ emotional well-being, confidence, and behavior.
- Communicate clearly with gymnasts, staff, and Lead Coaches to maximize learning and maintain a positive environment.
- Clock in/out promptly and keep accurate time records.
- Monitor and coach all aspects of practice, including warmups and conditioning—remain engaged and avoid idle conversation.
- Strive to improve every gymnast, helping each athlete reach their highest potential and remain committed to the program.
Requirements
- A genuine passion for working with children, patience in teaching, and a love for gymnastics.
- Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and compassion in all coaching interactions.
- Uphold the Vision Gymnastics Mission, Code of Ethics, Code of Conduct, and all USAG and SafeSport policies.
- Use positive, constructive communication—avoid gossip, complaints, or negative remarks.
- Bring any program concerns directly to the Head Coach or Manager.
- Maintain an active, professional presence during classes; avoid sitting or disengagement unless necessary.
- Submit time-off requests through Paychex at least two weeks in advance, pending managerial approval.
- Attend all assigned meets and events for your athletes.
- Collaborate with Head Coaches on athlete progress and placement decisions—avoid making independent assessments.
- Be able to stand for extended periods, follow lesson plans and visual aids, and set up and dismantle equipment as needed.
- Have the physical ability to lift 50 lbs or more and perform essential coaching movements such as spotting, lifting, climbing, balancing, and adjusting equipment.
- Know and apply all emergency and evacuation procedures and ensure new athletes are familiar with gym safety practices.
