About the role
Arrow Electric is growing and seeking a Pressure Digger Operator to join our team. As a Pressure Digger Operator, you will play a critical role in safely exposing underground utilities, digging pole foundations, and performing non-destructive excavation in high-risk environments where traditional digging methods may not be suitable.
Responsibilities
- Operate pressure digger equipment safely and efficiently.
- Excavate pole foundations, trenching areas, and access points for roadway and utility installations.
- Interpret job plans, utility locates, and site markings to determine excavation boundaries.
- Coordinate with Foremen, crews, and utility locators to ensure safe excavation practices.
- Identify and avoid damage to underground utilities during excavation.
- Transport pressure digger equipment and materials between job sites using CDL Class A compliance.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections per DOT regulations.
- Maintain and operate booms and auxiliary systems.
- Monitor equipment performance, fluid levels, and system pressures during operation.
- Assist with job site setup, traffic control awareness, and restoration activities.
- Maintain accurate logs, inspection records, and job documentation.
Requirements
- Valid CDL Class A driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Compliance with all applicable DOT regulations and medical certification requirements.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 2–5 years of experience operating heavy equipment or in construction/utilities preferred.
- Experience with pressure digging equipment strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with underground utility construction practices.
- Ability to travel to job sites throughout the region.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and overtime as required.
- Ability to operate and maintain heavy trucks and specialized excavation equipment.
- Ability to pass drug and alcohol screening as required by DOT regulations.
- Ability to obtain additional certifications (e.g., safety training, confined space awareness).
