About the role
As a Press Operator at our facility, you will be responsible for the complete operation of the press, including setting equipment guides, inspecting product, measuring dimensions of completed products, and aligning machine parts. You should be safety-focused and detail-oriented to contribute to our reputation of continued customer satisfaction.
Schedule
Friday–Sunday, 5:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
Pay
Starting pay $18.75 up to $23.75 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Reconcile coil identity to production and load coil
- Check and record gauge, width, hardness, camber, burr, and surface requirements; ensure compliance with customer and production requirements (record if required)
- Thread coil through leveler/flattener and feed unit
- Set up dies in the press with the part and scrap chutes/conveyors
- Set up the press/levelers/flattener to the proper program or required parameters
- Make minor adjustments to the press/dies/conveyors to produce product at a reasonable rate
- Run coil at the maximum rate that will produce complying product
- Monitor strip condition to ensure compliance with customer requirements and production instructions
- Set up skids on the parts conveyors to ensure no disruption of production
- Remove scrap from press as necessary, empty hoppers
- Clean machine and entire area
- Convey customer-specific packaging specifications
- Communicate non-compliance or quality problems to supervisor and/or shift lead
Requirements
- Ability to use tape measure, Rockwell tester, digital calipers, digital/dial indicators, height gauge, computer, part-specific gauges, and micrometers
- Ability to comply with safety rules and requirements
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds
- Ability to read and understand material tags and production instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to see details at close range
