Job Description
Wilsonart in Temple, Texas has openings for Press Operators. The Temple Pressing department currently has openings for Press Operators.
- Operates press to cure the material according to the press cycle specifications
- Evaluates the daily press schedule
- Logs production information such as: material produced, type, size, run, control settings, etc.
- Ensures all material is present for the production process
- Lays up and aligns the raw materials according to the production process
- Handles the movement of stainless-steel plates, carrier plates and completed laminate
- Initiates corrective action if production operations are not to standard
- Trains personnel on performance of tasks
- Performs lock-out/tag-out procedures and preventative maintenance checks
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Operates press to cure the material according to the press cycle specifications
- Evaluates the daily press schedule

- Ensures all material is present for the production process
- Lays up and aligns the raw materials according to the production process

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge of safety standards applicable to the work area and other pertinent rules/regulations governing work standards
- Knowledge of the pressing manufacturing process and component materials utilized
- Knowledge of the level of quality material must meet
- Knowledge of mathematics is sufficient to calculate square footage
- Skill in operating a lift truck
- Skill in establishing effective working relationships with other personnel
- Skill in identifying colors and shades
- Skill in identifying patterns and finishes
- Skill in leading people
- Skill in reading and accurately recording information on production schedules/logs
- Skill in organizing and prioritizing work schedules and material assets
- Skill in working independently without close supervision and as a team member
- Skill in interpreting dials, graphs, charts, etc.
- Skill in visually detecting product imperfections and defects
- Skill in communicating well in oral and written forms at all levels of the organization
- Skill in learning new skills
Minimum Requirements
- EXPERIENCE: Must have 18 months’ experience working in the Pressing department and have held the position of Senior Plate for at least 6 months
- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking/pushing/climbing and lifting material or equipment of heavy weight 50 to100 lbs.
- ENVIRONMENT: Located in an indoor area with frequent exposure to mild physical discomfort from dust, fumes, temperature extremes, loud noises and bright lights
