Press Operator

Role Overview

To ensure all finished product are printed accurately and meet all quality and customer standards.

Areas Of Responsibility

• Match and maintain consistent color and quality of product
• Machine operations including press register and efficient machine set ups
• Understanding ink/water balance
• Understanding LAB and Color Spectrum
• Ensure all information and materials are properly gathered and utilized to run job
• Direct crew members
• Follow production schedule
• Follow all safety rules and standard operating procedures
• Housekeeping (organizing and keeping area neat and clean)
• Fill out logs and checklist
• Meet with incoming operator at shift change to discuss any issues that occurred during shift
• Perform preventative maintenance
• Perform other tasks as assigned

Education & Certifications

• High school diploma, GED

Qualification & Experience

• Basic maintenance skills
• Ability to read and use ruler
• 2 years previous offset printing experience / Manroland Presses

Languages Skills

• Be able to communicate with supervisors and understand simple instructions
• Be able to read and understand operator’s manual

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

• Must be able to add and subtract basic fractions (5+5)
• Be able to use a calculator for addition, subtraction, multiplying and dividing

REASONING ABILITY

• Be able to isolate and solve basic mechanical problems – Basic machine troubleshooting

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Employee must be able to lift up to 25 pounds from the ground above the head
• This job requires some stooping, twisting and turning, repetitive wrist and hand motions including gripping, and standing on your feet all day

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job
• Most of the work is inside the plant with occasional work (
• The plant is not climate controlled being chilly in the winter (above freezing) and is hot in the summer (non-air conditioned)
