Press Operator

Job Summary

Graphic Packaging International is seeking a Printing 1st Press Operator to join our team. This position operates assigned and support equipment, including extruders, printers, metalizers, laminators, cutters, and gluers, in a safe and efficient manner.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Observes company safety rules and complies with safety practices.
• Able to monitor area for safety hazards, as well as secure area during an emergency.
• Maintains proficiency in all 2nd Pressman duties and Press Operator duties.
• Ensures product quality, production efficiencies, and scrap rates meet or exceed established standards.
• Operates assigned equipment safely and efficiently, responsible for shift production.
• Directs activities of team operating assigned equipment when required.
• Identifies and resolves process and equipment problems, continuously striving to improve operations.
• Notifies management of potential problems and offers solutions.
• Prepares accurate production, inventory, and material usage reports.
• Performs and directs make-ready on assigned equipment.
• Performs preventive maintenance as required.
• Trains new employees in proper operating procedures.
• Performs general housekeeping functions in assigned areas.
• Complies with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures.
• Supports GPI’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
• Participates in GPI’s LEAN, 5S, and Six Sigma initiatives.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
• Strives to meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Stops any process not meeting food safety or quality requirements.

Physical/Mental Requirements

• Frequent/strenuous physical effort (lifting, moving heavy objects).
• Conditions frequently involve noise, fumes, and hazardous chemicals.
• Continuous 7-day operation.
• May require overtime.
