Press Operator

About the role

Graphic Packaging International is seeking a Press Operator for their Printing department at their Staunton, VA facility. This position will lead the operation of the printing press, including start-up, shut-down, and daily procedures and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for a wide variety of production related tasks
• Verifies and follows production schedules, job specifications and instructions
• Responsible for make-ready, set up and operation of press
• Follows quality control procedures to obtain high quality and ensure customer satisfaction
• Maintains monitoring of all printing and press related processes and makes necessary adjustments
• Performs basic troubleshooting
• Completes job logs, production and quality paperwork
• Responsible for all cleaning, preventative maintenance of presses
• Provides direction, training, guidance to crew members
• Follows all company safety requirements
• Complies with all company rules and regulations
• Performs other duties as required to achieve the overall goals and objectives of the company

Requirements

• Proficient in reading, writing and speaking to receive and give directions and instructions
• Perform mathematical functions as related to press operations
• Able to troubleshoot and solve printing problems
• Enhanced listening skills and ability to follow directions
• Safely perform all tasks on and around press equipment
• Knowledge of printing processes
• Mechanical aptitude
• Understands and operates Color Management System
• Understands and operates Quality Management System
• Understands and operates Press Console Functions
• Understands all technical functions of printing press

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed
