Responsibilities
- Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain single or multi-color offset press.
- Perform all make-ready tasks associated with the type of press operated, such as hanging plates or installing cylinders, examining plates/cylinders for imperfections, and checking for correct positioning of images.
- Prepare blankets, adjust tension and register, and make necessary color corrections and/or press adjustments prior to production run to meet and maintain quality specifications.
- Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press, making minor repairs and replacing worn or broken parts as required.
- Perform periodic maintenance recommended by the manufacturer.
- Read and understand job specifications to determine press set-up materials needed to run the job successfully.
- Determine the most appropriate use of the press and make corrective adjustments required to run efficiently.
- Apply knowledge of the appropriate amount of packing pressure needed to obtain the proper printing pressure for the type of job being run.
- Use a micrometer to mount and align the printing plate correctly.
- Perform routine operational maintenance and minor repairs to equipment.
- Make adjustments to feeder and feed board (e.g., adjust suctions and blast, front and side guides, and the timing of the head stops).
Requirements
- Knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials, equipment, and safety requirements.
- Skills to perform assignments and operate presses effectively.
- Sufficient knowledge of press capabilities to determine the most appropriate use and corrective adjustments.
Pay
The pay range for this role is $19.01 - $27.18 per hour. The actual rate of pay offered may vary based on education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. In addition to base salary, the total compensation package may include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and stand-by pay.
