Press Machine Operator

About the Role

Press operators run and operate a large press that creates chassis body parts based on customer specifications. This position includes running copious computer systems to operate the machine and using the crane to load the machine.

Responsibilities

• Use of crane
• Large use of technology such as SAP
• Mechanically inclined decision making
• Working off-shift
• On feet for extended amount of time
• Ability to handle multiple tasks
• Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders
• Handle coils and load/feed material into Transfer Press
• Operate crane and move 30 ton dies
• Perform correct Die Set and Operation of Large Bolsters or Table and set up of Transfer Arms
• Set programs for Speed Feeder and Speed Starker

Requirements

• Ability to read, write and understand job documentation
• Physical coordination to lift and move product
• Trainable with fork lift truck
• Written and oral communication skills with attention to detail
• Math ability, including conversions (English & Metric units)
• Ability to read, use and understand measuring devices
• Ability to understand machine computer functions including ARKU & PLC
• Knowledge of correct way to handle coils and load/feed material into Transfer Press
• Knowledge and ability to do correct Die Set and Operation of Large Bolsters or Table and set up of Transfer Arms
