Press Helper

About the role

The Pressroom helper assists and supports the Pressroom in keeping the equipment running efficiently. The primary responsibility of the Pressroom Floater is to support presses with maintaining supplies, material handling and make-ready responsibilities. The Pressroom Floater will also fill in the role of Feeder on the 40” presses and Sheeter Helper as business needs dictate.

Essential Job Duties

• Demonstrate commitment to safety and perform job duties in accordance with company safety policies and procedures
• Demonstrate commitment to quality and perform job duties in adherence to GMP guidelines
• Be aware of responsibilities and accountability as clearly defined for key staff involved with product safety, legality, and quality systems
• Review the schedule and stage required stock and materials needed for upcoming jobs
• Maintain the fountain solution levels
• Absorb the removal, replacement, and maintenance of rollers
• Operate Toppy and Automaton skid turners
• Perform weekly preventive maintenance on Toppy skid turner
• Perform weekly preventive maintenance in Chemical Room and housekeeping duties
• Operate lift truck equipment
• Work with peers and other departments to improve quality and performance
• Perform maintenance and housekeeping of the assigned press and surrounding work area
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Press Operator or Feeder Operator
• Act as a backup Feeder in all functions of the feeder position as needed
• Set up the press feeder and keep it running properly
• Install the proper inks in the correct press units and maintains their levels during the press run
• Adjust press throughout the run to maintain sheet position and registration
• Absorb assistance with decisions regarding the quality of finished product
• Complete required quality inspections and paperwork
• Understand department communication systems, schedules, time/attendance system and job reporting requirements
• Participate actively in lean manufacturing initiatives

• Safety sensitive position – ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner
• Ability to work overtime and weekends as required based upon the needs of the business
• Ability to work on a rotating shift as needed
• Ability to effectively work in teams
• Ability to work in a production-based environment with moving equipment and people
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of roles

Press experience preferred
